Default Anyone interested in moving a large tank?

I'm looking at picking up a 250g tank from Austin and having brought back to my house. It is a fully stocked running tank and would need livestock/hardware moved. Anyone have any experience in doing this and wants a side job? PM me for more details.

LOL, I thought you were down sizing.

Lots of containers and keep at least 50% of the original water. May not want to reuse the sand after disturbing and mixing it.

Teeb, I have some 18 gallon RubberMaid roughneck tubs and a 100 gallon stock tank that you are welcome to borrow (use the stock tank as makeup water for when the tank arrives) . I've done these moves before and I would recommend that you bring back with you as much water as possible and have enough water ready to make up for what you can't bring back and ensure that the water parameters are the same (call him up and get his parameters). I would not use his sand since once its been disturbed you are likely to have a good ammonia spike down the road. Plan on using new sand and transport all the live rock in water (not newspaper) since it's going to be at least a few hours before you put everything back together. Order some extra bulkheads in the event that his have to be cut off and start EARLY because it will take a long time. Take a string PVC cutter and large 14+" pliers to avoid wasting time trying to take off bulkheads. Take a good size pump and a long hose so that you can run the water straight into some drums in the back of a truck or trailer (don't forget how heavy water is and overload the truck or trailer). I recommend you rent a Uhaul trailer. I rented a 6 X 12 enclosed trailer for $30 bucks, but make sure to reserve ahead of time since they don't have many of the 6 X 12's around and take plenty of tie downs. When I did a 265 tank takedown I packed all the livestock up first and had the girls take everything home and put it in a stock tank with heaters and koralia's to avoid having the livestock sitting there for hours while the guys moved all the hardware.

Take Jose's advise, man knows his tank moves. Almost all of them large tanks that I know of.

I really like the part of having the livestock home 1st. This will allow the acclimation period to start early and cause much less stress.

Thanks for the advice Jose. I'm really thinking about trying to move livestock in one trip, then tank in the other. Anyone have any idea what a tank this size weighs? It's 72"x30"x24" eurobraced AGE. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 500lbs.

    Sweet tank score! So are those dimensions L x W x H (72" x 30" footprint and 24" tall)? Or 30" tall with 72 x 24 footprint?

Also, does this mean you will be done with our skimmer?
