Default IO salt and calcium level

I tested my mix water for calcium level today for the very first time after using IO salt for 3 years. The result was at 300ppm....WOW......You guys always get this low with IO too?

That sounds normal for IO. That is why most of use Reef Crystals.

Yep, I'm used to seeing about 320 and supplimenting from there to get it up around 450.

I like an IO/RC mix. RC is too low in alk but high in calc, IO to low in calc but high in alk. Still always have to add mag!

Not a bad idea at all. Am wondering if there are any side effect for mixing two diffrent salts though?

I've done this off and on for years. I do keep them separate until I mix in water. Nice part is, when your levels get a bit off, you just adjust the 1:1 ratio a bit.
