Just a small tank...
Im afraid this is human nature.
For trophy I do not agree, but for good eating I may differ a bit. I personally would not have kept this species and would have released, but I have caught and eaten bonnet head shark.
There are many on Maast that hunt deer and probably have a head on their wall. Again im not a trophy guy, but I do like to eat deer meat.
Just putting this into perspective. The shark was legally caught, legally nothing was done wrong. To some its a moral issue- but to some on this planet eating a cow is a one way ticket to hell.
My entire point, if they were going to eat it would you still think its Sad?

If you would have asked me 10 years ago when I was 20, I would have probably been like Hell Yeah! That's awesome. But if I was to catch something like that now, I can guarantee every portion of meat would be used in same way, form, or fashion. I'd even donate as well if possible in the local area where caught. I have a deer head on my wall. All the rest of him was used to feed our family, I don't really have a taste for antlers or snout. My family has always been a hunt for food type. If I was 20 and caught that shark, I would have wanted him processed and have the body on my wall. But at that time, I wasn't aware of companies who can make exact replicas of my catch through photos and measurements. If I was going sport fishing for a trophy, I would get the recreation done of my catch. If I bring that catch to shore, then it's resources would be put to use.
Then again, to each their own, it is a shame to see the shark like that. Now, imagine all the sharks NOT being caught legally(see:shark fin soup) and let's raise hell on that.
I love to eat seafood shark included!. However, what I meant by the word Sad was it was sad to see a picture like the way it was taken. I have no issue with the sport of fishing or hunting. Taxidermy is awesome. It takes talent. And to have something like that on our wall, would be something to be proud of, a sense of accomplishment.
My parents, brothers and even my sisters have mounts of fish & deer heads in their homes. The bottom portion (meat) was used to feed the family.

agreed
what stinks is the way they do fish trophys now. I saw this on Dirty Jobs.
Basically the fish will be sent off to a shop. They use the fish's body to make a mold, and then they use the mold to make a fiberglass fish and bring in a professional painter to paint the mold. So basically these people will most likely have a 9ft fiberglass shark on their wall and the body is tossed.

whats dumb is they can take pics and used a pre-made mold, if they are not going to eat it, instead of tossing a perfectly good animal in dumbster, who would know its not the original

On the dirty jobs episode, they save those molds for future fish from what I had read. There are other companies out there that can make an exact replica based off photos and measurements. Man, at least put that shark to use, sucks seeing it sit there going to waste.
From the article...
It was most likely dead when they got it to the surface.Hammerheads are renowned fighters when challenged for sport. But once exhausted from the struggle, they frequently drown, experts say.
