Never used them but...
I've also been very interested in these. It seems that only a handful of places make these; Nanocustoms and one LED lighting manufacturer (name starts with an E, I Forget). The price seems to hover around $120 which considering they will plug into any standard lamp socket makes them not all that expensive. You could really get creative making a stand for these.
I thought it would be cool to have 3-4 of these lighting my Finnex tank. I could make a stand out of square tubing and add light sockets that swivel, kind of like the way you see Japanese tanks.
I wish they came in more colors not just white and blue. It would also be nice if there was some more competition to drive the price down.
Let me know what you find out.

I'm in the process of converting my 200g brick from 250w HQI to 16 par38 lamps. I'll be starting a thread once I make noticable progress.
MIOR, you making the set up or buying one already set up?
I've been tinkering around with the idea of a slow build for my tank.
Something that would incorporate each of the popular lighting methods in a hanging module. The MH and T-5 for color would be a no brainer, but I really like the ability of dimming and customizing the spectrum that I've seen with LEDs, in particular SAABTECH's adaptation to his lights.
Everytime I look up LEDs I feel like I'm looking the wrong ones.

The par38's are nice bulbs, the only down side is non dimmable...and with 40 degree lenses at around 14" off the water they cover about a 12x12 area. Great if you like the spotlight look. Evilc66 has a nice thread on his tank. Last I looked he was running 5-6 on his 75, I liked the spotlight look. For good coverage on a 10g you would need two bulbs.

Allan,
Regarding the fixture, I looked cost, flexibility and long term. Tracking lighting is ok on cost, great for flexibility but I believe bad on long term as the contacts and power strip is exposed to the elements. Since looks are not an issue, I went with a 20" wide wire storage shelf and weatherproof lamp holders that hook to the shelf allowing easy positioning.

Your correct regarding the spotlight look and the area it covers but that is why I went with the 60* optics that will give you a little less spot and more blend. I used the 12x12 to determine the amount of lamps I needed + additional for safety and moonlight. My tank is 7x2x2 so 14sqft, therefore 14 bulbs but I dont have to lit the inside of my overflows so its actually 13 + 3 @ 80* for moonlight.
so I converted from HQI to LED over the weekend. Below are some pics. LED's look great. Hopefully they grow corals as claimed. Visually, there is a huge difference beteen flooding an area with light (HQI) and positioning a light source where needed (LED). Time will tell but for now, it is a different tank.
