    Default Algicide

    Did I spell that right?
I think recently somebody mentioned the use of algicide. Hadn't even considered that before.
How does it work? Does it kill macro?
The rocks in my QT are starting to turn green. I had tried them, then bleached them, then dried them again in an effort to kill off all caulerpa.
It was tough to get some pieces of the dead white caulerpa off and now I can't tell if the rocks are getting a general green coating including over the caulerpa. Or ...
if the caulerpa is coming back!!!
    Can it be?
I will have a cow if it does!

I used API's AlgaeFix while my tank was cycling... I was sick of looking at an ugly tank. It did work, so well I stopped using it after a short while. Once the tank was cycled I only had minimal algae growth and didn't bother with it anymore. It took care of hair algae in a jiffy. I've read it can damage desirable macros as well, though. I haven't used it since I added a fuge, but because of the fuge I won't need it.
It's reef safe for corals and inverts, contains no copper like some algae treatments.
I still have an almost full 16oz bottle if you want to give it a try.

If you do try it and you are using macro algae in a fuge I would take the rocks in question and put them in a QT and treat in that so your macro is not affected.
