    Default Cricket Infestation

I been having a problem of field crickets getting into my apartment. It has been driving me crazy picking up each little bugger and putting out side. My apartment manager says they having exterminator coming out next week but for some reason I'm skeptical. He also says its been happening all over the apartment complex. Any one have any advice to keep this buggers out?

I have laid some boric acid and glue traps out but they haven't been too effective. I was thinking about nuking my apartment with one of those foggers but I'm worried it can kill my fish and my tank. Any one use a fogger with a fish tank running?

I think your problem is all over the city, ive hunted down some chirpin crickets at my house, and alot of the shopping centers around have hundreds of black crickets outside by the walls and stuff. not sure how to get rid of them maybee just gotta wait it out.

They are everywhere. It's just that time of year.

I'd stay away from the foggers. Most likely foggers won't keep the krickets out anyway. It will just kill the ones you have now and more will show up to replace them.

This was just on the news last night. They are everywhere this summer because of the humudity and the high moisture has allowed more eggs to hatch than normal this time of year. Basically because all of the rain lately.

You apartment should be the one to take care of this, but if you feel you need to. Drape a damp sheet over your aquarium this will help not allow the toxin/poison into your tank.

Turn off the light at your apartment door. If you know a pest control guy ask them for some NiBan. It works wonders on crickets and waterbugs.

Wowsers alton, you must have some good size geckos!

Kenya did you just move here?
My first year here the crickets freaked me out. I would catch them to evict them and sometimes they would lose a leg in the process and I'd mail the legs back to Germany to show my friends how BIG the bugs were in Texas. There's bugs here that are bigger than some rodents back home.

Turn the light off, keep the doors closed. Don't nuke it since there is an infinite supply waiting just around the corner.
They're here for a couple of weeks. Then as fast as they came they're gone (or laying around dead somewhere)
    Just a seasonal thing...

Lol yeah I wish i had a predator tank. They would devour these guys.

Its shocking how many crickets are around these days. Never seen it quite like this and I have been living in San Antonio for 4 years and Houston for 10 before that. I guess Im going to get more glue traps getting tired of picking these guys up by hand. I think im developing a cricket phobia from picking these guys up lol.

Radio news stories say they won't be around too much longer. Not sure what that is based on, but it's what they said.
