Oh that must be scary. I'd hate to see my little guys react to stuff like that. :(
I wonder if it has something to do with the hormones or other meds they give the chickens?
I was really surprised when I learned what the criteria was for labeling stuff. Like 'natural' can be used for anything. There is no regulation on that. Free roaming just means they're not in individual cages, etc. They still may never see the sunshine, grass or beetles...
All that stuff seems really misleading.
Truly free roaming chickens produce eggs much higher in good stuff like Omega 3 because of all the bugs they are eating. You wouldn't believe what ginormous grasshoppers the chickens can catch and eat!
And then of course there's that extra little bit of love and attention that makes the eggs extra good. ;)
