just read some more in my new algae book and learned that over 30% of municipalities use chloramine now. And it's way tougher to filter out than chlorine and because of the ammonia not good for our fish tanks at all.
I also learned that each water supplier that supplies for more than 25 houses must publish an annual water quality report and that will show what kind of disinfectant they use.

in my area they still use chlorine.
Good thing because I never got a chloramine cartridge for my RO unit.
