Unhappy NEED HELP/ RENTING A HOUSE QUESTION

Well i'm renting a house and a tree fell on my roof where we sleep.
it made a big hole on the roof going into my room and there is installation
hanging out of that big hole. we told the landlord and took a week to get the insurance
people to come out here. the landlord told us they will come out the next day.
the next day they put a tarp on my roof that all they did. It's been almost a month they have not did anything to my house or call us. we been sleeping on the floor in the living room on a mattress with our 7 month old baby.

is there any renters place i can call to get on my landlord?

Did you rent directly from the landlord or a representing company like Coldwell Banker or similar? If through a company, just start raising hell with them to focus on the safety/health of your baby. I had a similar situation and was fixed immediately. I'm sure there are attorneys too who would be chomping at the bit for a go at your landlord.

Look into the Lawyer option. Im pretty sure you can move out and LEGALLY break the lease agreement or LEGALLY stop paying rent until its fixed and they cant come back on you for unpaid rent. Definatley consuly a lawyer.

I am sorry to hear about your situation, but this is the line of work I deal with... Insurance Adjusters.... etc...

Yes, your landlord should have the hole fixed and corrected, but at the same time he is probabley waiting for that check he should receive from the ins. company to do something about it cause he has no $$$$$ to up front the cost which could run possibly into a couple hundred to thousands of $$$... It all just depends....

I hope for the baby's health and yours too that this gets taken care of ASAP..

They should have get you and your family a hotel while the hole is not fix yet.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

Being an landlord it all comes down to what is in the contract that most people don't read. Which is a plus for the landlord. If he has a clause in there that repairs like that wont be fixed until ins pays then nothing you can do.
