Default Some of my digital Marine Art:

I love painting and creating art in all types of mediums. I'm a Web Developer by trade so naturally my art has also taken the digital form...

Here's a couple with a short explanation of each:

Title: "Nuclear Deaths". It's inspired by my Nuclear Green Palythoas and Purple Death Palythoa corals along with Palytoxins. You can see palytoxins being released from these bad boys. I used an image of my Nuclear greens along with an underwater shot that I purchased from a stock photography site and of course my mad photoshop skillz. lol

For reference, here's the original pic of my Nuclear Greens that I started with: (actual picture I took from my tank)

    next....

    Title: "Ocean Storm"
I was curious what the ocean might look like underwater during a storm so I did a Google search and pretty much got nothing, which inspired this illustration. It's more of a storm just starting and lightning striking through the water. I used stock photography that I purchased to create this illustration along with layers in Photoshop. These pics are not from my tank.

I really like the Ocean Storm one.
I wish I would be more skilled in Photoshop. I know I am using only 20% of what it has to offer...

Thanks, Karin. Funny thing.... I've been using Photoshop for about 10 years now and a few years ago I began teaching my wife some of the design and web tools that I use.

Well, one day she was doing some batch processing in Photoshop and I saw her using a crop tool and accomplishing something that would normally take me an additional 5-8 keystrokes to do and I said; "hey what are you doing there?". Her; "oh, just using the crop tool". Me; "oh, yeah.....the crop tool." <LONG PAUSE> Me; "WHAT THE HECK IS THE CROP TOOL????" She started cracking up... and taught me something that I now use every single day.

....LOL! I really enjoy seeing how other people use the same tools I use. There are so many ways to accomplish similar effects and an array of tools that even I don't use or understand.

Thanks, Jack! LOL, the box-bait palys! Only you and I thought it was funny. For everyone that missed it, for one of the POTM contests the subject was "boxfish and Palys/Zoas" so I submitted my box-bait palys (palys with a boxfish face in them) to Eve and it slipped by her and she entered it into the contest. lol. Sorry Eve.

The palys with the freaky eyes? Those were cool (if we are talking about the same thing)

Ha! I saw those and thought: funny palys with boxfish eyes. But then nobody said anything and other 'fun submissions' had already been nixed so I was glad I kept my mouth shut because I figured: crazy me. I am probably the only one that sees fish eyes in them. They must be just some kind of snazzy spotted expensive paly and I would have looked like a dork mentioning it...
