The brain's been in my tank since about june of last year. I got it from a fellow reefer up in Schertz when he tore down his tank. I've always had it nice and fluffy at the bottom of the tank.

I've caugth the file fish nipping at the center where the mouths are (were) and that's one of the reasons I thought it was the fish. Last night I put it up higher in the tank to get it away from the file fish, then if the light is an issue that should remedy the problem.

The change in it was only a few days. I left on Monday and when I returned on Thursday it was in its present condition. The pink rim is still intact, just the center seems to be receding.

I've heard some fish will learn that if they nip at the mouth of LPS corals the coral expels some zooanthalte (spelled, wrong but no time to look it up right now) which some fish find tasty. Could that be the case here?
