We got married at Breckenridge Park (Japanese Tea Garden) and our truck was broken into while we were there. They stole my purse and some other stuff.
My checks had my work number on it and a few days later a lady called me at work asking if I had written a large check to a guy named *** ******. I said no way and told her my checks had been stolen out of my vehicle. She said she suspected something because the guy is a frequent customer at her store and him cashing a large personal check like that seemed unusual.
    So she turned him in.
I felt so good thinking justice would be served now but guess what. The police said him having my checks didn't prove he also broke into my truck so even though we had name and address and everything of that guy it didn't do us one bit of good. Nothing ever came of it.
Just added insult to injury. As a victim you really don't have many rights. Not half as many as the people that rip you off.
A few years before that a teenager broke into my car at an apartment complex. They caught him with my sunglasses (I used to work as a surgical coordinator for an ophthalmologist and also managed the optical retail so I am good about providing definite ID on eyeglasses). He admitted the theft and then nothing happened.
I had to keep bugging the court to even have them consider restitution. I got $20 out of that kid. That's it. Like your car he trashed the window and even messed up the dashboard in an attempt to steal the whole vehicle.
Not trying to whine on your thread just wanted to give you a heads up that unless things have changed significantly in the last 5 years you may still be on the losing end even if they catch your guy. Sorry :(

It has gotten bad around here, My truck was broken into the same way. They busted out the window and stole my stereo. That was a week or two ago.

This is the reason i stayed with my stock stereo, people like this.
I havent heard anything back from the cops about the plates.
I told the cops that it was a green geo metro with a tail light out but they didnt seem to care.

The stuff they stole might have been worth more then the car, lol, camera$600, laptop $350, radar $100, notes $2500 (price of full time semester).

And leaving all this stuff where they could get to it PRICELESS...

Sorry to say it was your own fault.. Same thing happened to me in broad daylight well to my wife I should say' in the parking lot of Northeast Baptist Hospital while she was at work. Took my GPS, ALPINE head unit, Amplifiers yes 2, @ 10" Memphis Woofers in the Bass box.. Nikon camera.. So I feel your pain, but that stuff should not be left in your car, should have put them in the trunk... Sad thing is people don't even look around when a alarm goes off anymore. So my alarm didn't work worth a darn, even have a remote that alerts you when it goes off, $400 alarm system that SUX.

Sorry for the reality check but I speak from experience....

trunk or front seat, it doesn't matter. many of the reports I've taken, these guys tore up the whole car if they didn't immediately find what they wanted under the seats or in the console. True, out of sight can help reduce chances, but not always. For those with vehicles that had their door locks punched in, Best Buy installers used to sell a kit that fit behind the handle and lock mechanism that prevented manual unlocking by that point of entry. The kit was simple but effective. Not sure if they still sell. Sorry for your loss, it sucks. They did the same to my wife's srt-4 and didn't get a thing. But, knowing that someone had been in your car drove me up the wall.

yeah my purse was under the seat (looks stupid to exchange vows with a purse under your arm and our truck doesn't have a trunk) and they still gave it a shot...
I never realized how easy it could be to crack the door lock open!

You'd be surprised at how easy someone can get into your car without a sound. Now a days, people don't flinch at the sound of an alarm going off, not even their own(unless recently a victim). One of my coworkers has a MegaCab Dodge(sick lookin' truck) and the windows are **** near impossible to break(some layer or coating to help prevent breaking) and he has a top notch alarm that turns the truck on and off, pager feature, etc. Guys tried breaking into it around 11am MID DAY! You can see where they took multiple shots with what looked like a bat to the window. He never rose to the alarm as he was passed out.
