I've a love hate relationship going on with my cyano as well. I've never been able to completely get rid of it although what I do occasionally is introduce an "Allan Storm" where the light is blocked out entirely for two days. Then start the light back on in a two day period where I'm back to where I was prior to the allan storm.

That's only temporary in my case as it's come back.

I've done the Kristy fix as well. Not sure if I had as much flow in there as I do now when you and your hubby came over, but for as much flow as I have I'm sure I've still got a space or two with low flow, so look to see that all areas of your tank are being moved around by water current.

Third thing is to back up Chris and Aggiereefer, cleaning your food and a nice macro collection in your fuge will pay dividends.

My problem is that I'm way lazy on the water changes and cleaning my food seems to take a lot of willpower on my part.... but when I do it I can see results so you shouldn't have any problems if you follow their advice.

    Marissa and Joey,
When you get the fuge set up just post that you are ready for some macro algae. We ALL have an abundance that we are happy to give away free of charge.

    Good luck!

Are you going to replace your wet dry filter for the 3 chamber sump all at once? I would recommend slowly do this or atleast move the biological and sponge filters over to the sump for a little while if not permanantly. If you are add the sump in addition to the wet dry even easier. Randy can chime in sometime maybe on his experience on switching from a trickle biowheel setup to a mini fuge overnite. in short catastrophic meltdown of 7 splitting bubble anenomes

I feel for you Marissa. My dad is going through the same problem. It took me a little a few days for it to come to me, but I figured it out. I checked his RO water with a DTS meter and found out his RO filter was used up. Hard water and lack of flushing makes them go quick. He is using water from those Glacier water machines for top off for now. The Glacier water only read 5ppm. Not bad for .35 cents a gal. I hope this helps you. SA water can be rough on the reef tank and RO filters. If you see this Bro, order a new one for Pop.
