Not quite as funny when you live next door to free roaming nutty ones and have little kids, livestock and/or cats. :(
I appreciate that you take good care of yours
My point really was:
irresponsible breeding and ignorant pet owners are to blame for the bad rep in my opinion - it's not just all myth and hype.
(just to clarify: the people friendly one is the one that's chained now. He'd come over and say 'hi' and I was okay with him. The female was nutty as a bed bug even when she was just a few weeks old. She's never been chained up. I've never seen a dog that young already so vicious. It was impossible to make friends with her even as a puppy and I am usually very good with animals. They bred her and her offspring is just like her.)

I agree, backyard breeding and ownership have their toll. Almost every chihuahua I see (including pedigrees) shake terribly. That's a sign of nervousness being bred into them over and over. I will be the first to admit I am bias, but when I walk into an animal shelter there are more apbt's than any other specific breed. I am barked and growled at by mutts and pure breds alike, but rarely am I barked at by an apbt. Sadly, a lot of people buy the breed because to them its a status symbol and are so quick to give them up when they don't turn out properly trained.

the dog may just have issues or may not even be a pit. a pitbull is not a big dog like most people think they are. the massive dogs that people see now are American bullies or just a product of backyard breeding. there are soo many breeds mixed to make those massive dogs. but the key to any animal is correcting their actions while they are young. my poodle/chihuahua is the pack leader over all of my dogs and i made sure that was the way it was.
I think all breeds would be much better off if everyone had to get training from a dog whisperer before owning. I think the animal shelters are doing a great thing by being selective of who they adopt APBTs to. But that doesn't mean I think breed selective legislation is right.... oh its so wrong.

i think its funny that you have to get your dog registered if he isnt fixed. they will not get $50 from me to own a dog not neutered. i know its not alot but they are nuts. i got an idea let me put you in my backyard with him and you tell him you want his man hood or $50.
Pits are just more prevalent here with bad owners, which is why there are so many in our vicinity...
That's a strong dog!
