    Question LED driver help

Ok so I recently aquired 16 RB Cree XPG LEDs and 8 Cree XRE LEDs, along with some 500ma buckpuck drivers. (thanks Stephen) So i would really like to have the ability to dim my LEDs to transition smoother than 0% to 100% power. I was looking on some imput as to what kind of driver to get and why. As far as I know mainly people use the Mean Well ELN-60-48D dimmable driver or the Buckpuck dimmable drivers. First question is with the buckpucks what is the diffrence between 500ma and 1000ma? Is it that the 1000ma will burn 2x as bright as the 100ma? Next question is to my understanding the Mean Well drivers require a controller of some sort such as a Reef Keeper Lite (correct?) but do the buckpucks?

1000mA is not exactly twice as bright as 500mA, but close. Anything over 700mA(except xpg whites) will mainly just build more heat. The dimmable buck pucks have a pot on them to dim. The meanwell drivers (D series)require you to use a controller or build a vairable 1-10v circiut.(12v ps with resistor to drop to 10v,then a pot). Hope that helps some, if not ask away.

I'm sure you could, I dont know how. It would not be a direct hook up like a meanwell driver would be. I think smaller simple builds, the buckpucks work great. The meanwell's are really nice aswell, no extra power supply and easy controller hook up.

The white emitters are cree xpg's and the blue and royal blues are cree xpe's.

For a controlled setup, you would need the meanwell eln-60-48d (not P) reef keeper lite(elite) and a ALC module. FYI the eln-60-48d can handle 12 emitters.
