Sure, understood. I know that it does not compete directly with sponsors' services, but we also offer a level of sponsorship for non-aquarium related good / services in order to be allowed to advertise your service.

That's why Erik Harrison's computer services are allowed in his signature line and he has his own banner, etc. now that he is a sponsor for MAAST. If you want to be authorized to advertise your service, we can ask one of the sponsorship committee guys to send you the info... (can't hurt to look it over!)

This is off-topic but is right on topic for discussions since the OP.

It should be the same for everyone, no matter who they are. Erik advertised in his signature for several months before ponying-up the sponsorship. I think that ads in the signatures ought to be removed or paid for, whether it's live rock, services, tanks or whatever. That is why we have a for sale forum. How do we think it would look to the NP people, if everyone had ads in their signature. It would kind of nullify the education purpose for being here. We have already doubled the amount of selling with the open forum.

Actually, it is not accurate that the moderator was allowing it. The moderator marked it for discussion / moderation, but was trying to enjoy his Easter family celebration. The rule is unclear and needed some BOD clarification before a moderator could act on it. They try not to be too hasty in moderating.

I tried to answer the issue and to ask you guys to wait for the mods / BOD to come up with an answer, but it appears that you are eager to discuss this immediately.

As BB has pointed out, the rules should be the same for everyone, which is exactly what the moderation team is trying to do overall, thus the need to communicate with one another and make sure they have the same understanding of some rules that are not very clear.

So..... until they have had a chance to do so, I would like to ask that this issue be "at rest" while we await a more official response from the BOD (to clarify the rule) and the mods to enforce the rule that the BOD clarifies. I am going to go ahead and lock the thread temporarily to allow a response from the BOD and the mods. This is just a temporary lock while we await a response (which is taking a bit longer than usual, because after all, it is Easter Sunday and folks are trying to enjoy the day with their families. Let's all do the same, shall we?)
