Their tissue is pretty sensitive since they live in low light areas. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the excess light. What are you feeding it?
I think Karin experienced some color fading when she found the "yellow spots".... or I could be making that up lol

Actually for me the color fades in response to bright light. It doesn't seem to affect the solid yellows but bright orange turns to paler pink for me if I have it too close to the T5s. That's why my primo dark sun is in the shade.
Don't want it to get a sun burn.
The yellow spots I had when the suns were stressed turned out to be planula and most if not all turned into baby sun coral polyps! I didn't notice any color changes on the skin. To me the color changes of the skin are in response to lighting conditions not stress (like the planula)
If they open and eat you're good to go no matter what color.![]()
Karin
i dont spot feed im a G !!! jk lol but i dont feed .... they stay open about 65% of the day and all night
sweet thanks i knew you would be one to respond since your the NPS person lol
i just moved them to vics tank and she doesn't have much rock since shes being picky and i haven't bought the tonga branch from work
okay you will need to feed them or else they'll decline over time.
it takes corals a long time to starve but it will happen eventually.
Open means hungry![]()

lol. I just love the suns. Other corals have come and gone but sun corals are sort of my most enduring coral favorite.
JT, teasing them is not nice. They will open if they sense food in the water but they're not very mobile ;) Be a dear and give them a snack!
Karin
x3 on feeding, only reason I don't have any in my tank.
NOW WITH 30% MORE AWESOME!

I thought mine had grown legs, then I realized my emerald crab was doing his routine work out bench pressing unglued corals
