    Default Skimmer overflow hurt?

I juuat recently added water to my tank thus throwing off my skimmer. It usally does not do this but I was adjusting it the day before. I was looking in my sump at all the pods I had in there and noticed my cup was overflowing with my dirty skimmate into the sump. All of about 2 mins. Could this lead to isssue and hurt my tank(90 gallon)?

No, this happens to me all the time w/ no issues. It does this when your sump water level get out of normal operation range.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

What do you mean set water level? I have mine on some eggcrate to get the recommend water level of 9 incches. It's an Octo 110. I just set it too high for my max water level and when I filled it overflowed

I had it happen twice, and mucked up my tank..... to no decline, but still.
Thus decided to drill a small hole in the side of the skimmer cup, fed a tiny tube in to the skimmer cup, and out to a drilled hole in the tightened cap of a plastic coke bottle.
when the skimmer hits the 1/3 mark of the flow cup, it siphons into the coke bottle so as not to cause a stink!!!!!! ha!!!
    Works perfect.

when your water level in your sump rises it messes with the performance of the skimmer. you will have to adjust the skimmer for that amount of water and then readjust it when the water level goes back to normal.

What he means by this is in alot of sumps we put what is called a static chamber big enough for the skimmer that way water stays the same and yous skimmer always runs constant..
