I am lost, you have white rocks with no coraline algae? If so then buy a couple of live rocks with coraline algae and introduce it to your white rocks and it will grow in time.

Or do you have some coraline algae on your rocks and it is not spreading like you would of hoped?

Phosphate levels? These can slow growth of Coraline algae. I use phosguard in my filtration system and it makes a huge difference.

No, tanks been up for about 2 years before I added the sump etc.
I've got gorgeous purple and pink rocks + base rock in there, but hav'nt seen a glimpse of new corraline growth since November. (glass, rocks, overflow, nada)

    Just kinda weird!!

It's gotta be your bulbs then - how old are they?

It can't be the bulbs. I have coralline growing in my quarantine tank and in my skimmer. All those have is regular Lowe's daylight bulbs.

I have been useing very small amounts of Kent purple tech, and scraping what coraline I do have about once a week with pumps off. It has helped alot, for me anyways.

I had a nitrate issue after installing the sump, but that has all chilled out finally.
may have done too many water changes in jan/feb..... but all levels look good!!

dosing is just essentials, cromoplex, iodine, and calcium when needed.
I'm scraping a couple of the old rocks tonight, we'll see if it helps.

Do you have snails and hermits? Those may sometimes much on coralline as do small starfish.

Just an odd observation, that there's no coralline algae growth at all. Outside of what was there before the sump and rearrangement 2 months back.
