Lighting Question
Real simple here - Do you loose much light intensity before the light hits the water?
Reason I'm asking is I would like to hang lights a couple feet from my 24W/24D/12T frag tank to give mangroves room and light. Looking at LED's or t5's. Since the tank is so shallow, I believe I'll be ok. Whatcha think?

Wish I had the link to send you.
about light penetration per depth of tank....
My boy brought over his little light meter, and showed me the spread at dif. depths. and with and without the glass top!!!!
and the bottom of my tank wasn't getting Jack either way.....!!!!!
Duh!! on the algae blooms only at the bottom.
But distance from the water shouldn't matter too much. give or take a few inches!!
Remove that glass lid though.

The light will be very diffuse by the time it hits the water. A little too far from the surface IMO.
