    Default laptop problems

If anyone has any experience with this problem please tell me what you did. If you rest your left palm on the surface of the laptop the mouse will jump. It especially does this in word documents. I'm talking specifically about that piece of plastic below the keys and to the left of the touchpad. All it takes is a little pressure. I drives my wife nuts having to type holding her hands in the air. I guess its a problem with the case. Any ideas?

JC, I've had similar problems in other areas of a laptop. Any chance that the battery is directly below this spot? Laptop batteries tend to overheat, and warp the case. Warping the case can cause unintended keystrokes, etc.

What brand is it? And, do you ALWAYS put it on a hard surface so it can "breathe"? Laptops REALLY need good circulation.

jc you can disable the mouse pad and use an external mouse.

I think Bill has it right. If I use the external mouse it runs fine. Time to look around for a new lower case.

Just disable the pad. Hold the fn key down and the mouse pad function key (ie F6) and it will turn it off. It may have a service attached to your mouse that you can also disable in computer management > services.
