sounds like a company called Orbitec has a patent in the USA that is keeping full blown LED market at bay.Im guessing the halide companies are happy but I hope the LED market can happen in the US not just the DIY stuff

The LED market is finding ways to proceed here -- mostly in the form of offsetting the controls of the LED's to controllers (how AquaIllumination has escaped suit so far, or so the assumption goes)... the Orbitec patent specifically deals with timing and finite controls of the LED's in conjunction with a marine environment, but does not limit the use of LED's in general over a marine environment..

Other companies, like this one, are just proceeding in other markets instead of the US..

I pretty sure that the light shown in the link was NOT an LED. I think it was a plasma light.

    Just saying...

The link was incorreft for some reason -- this was the actual fixture:

The link went to a google result on ReefBuilders, but this was the actual address.. and there's no obscene gesture on this link

Actually, AI is paying Orbitec royalties for their fixture now ...

If I'm not mistaking, and I often am, I think the wireless connectivity is going to be a hit with reefers. We like gadgetry too!
