I think they are balanos. They match the description of a balano much mroe closely than they match that of a dendro or tubastrea. But I recognize that the fact that they are occurring as a cluster will lead some people to conclude that they are dendros or tubastreas. I can not with 100% certainty say that they are balanos.
And it's not important enough to me to pursue a more definite ID.
I think they are outstanding and very different from all the dendros and tubastreas I have. That's good enough for me.
