I had another idea for your light ...
What if you made a black acrylic "box" ... maybe rectangular shaped. Open on top and bottom, sized to fit around a frame that could hold a couple of your existing fixtures, like your Lumenarc mini's. I bet that would look slick. How about even tapering it to a smaller opening up top. That would hide all the "rawness" of the reflectors and still allow convective cooling. You could even hide a fan or more in there!
As a step further, leave a bit of a gap between reflectors and mount some gooseneck flexible arms in the gap and you can have a couple flexible/aim-able spotlights to showcase clams, a certain SPS, whatever. You could use one of the cool spotlights from nanotuners:

I think that setup might look pretty cool hanging over the tank by 8-12 inches ...
