For our first child we went with a Dr, then after taking Bradly classes my wife wanted to have the baby at home due to the interventions that are used in a hospital. Since my job it to make sure mama is happy during the pregnacy I said lets look into this. (I was so scared) With some guidence from our Bradly instructor we found the SABirthing center. We went to visit and we change to their support 8 months into the pregnancy.
When talking to people they thought we were crazy cuz in this day and age you have a babies in hospitals and with doctors not some voodoo midwife. I have to admite that before we went to see them I thought the same thing. My mom even did not know if we were doing the right thing for our child, even thought my father and her were born at their respective grandmothers houses.
So let me tell you that I will go with a midwife again, just being there for my wife and the birth of my son, I was the person who first held my son, I dont think our first Dr would have let me be where I was at and let me hold him first.
Well I could go on and on but for anyone I would recommend the Bradly classes, after taking these clases people who had children already were asking my wife and I questions on what to expect during their pregnacy.
