air bubbles in u tube

how do i keep air bubbles from starting a air pocket in my overflow u-tube? i just set it all up last night and had a nice size air pocket in it today

You can use an aqualift and let the exit tube feed back into the display. After initial setup I've only had one occasion where bubbles built up. Now I give the utube a hard shake to dislodge any bubbles about once a month

I've never done it. I would think there are two ways to skin a cat though.

1) Drill a hole and insert tubing. Use a silicone to seal it off. The aqualift will suck a small amount of water and any air up and into the pump and out the exiting tube. You can have to exiting tube feed back into your DT, sump, etc. This will allow you to continuously syphon off any air bubble pockets.

2) Feed the tubing up the utube to the curve where the air gets trapped. This would probably be a less effecient way with a risk of the tube falling back out.

problem solved switched to a smaller utube and now its sucking the bubbles strait through. thanks for the help though

No prob. It might help someone else down the road. Glad you got it fixed. Is the new utube a bigger diameter?

smaller. the problem was my overflow was too much for my pump

You nailed it. Bubble in the U-tube means you need more flow.

Drill a hole in it and let the bubble out! Just kidding!!! Don't do that.
