Driving the wife crazy.......PRICELESS.
I have sold and traded lots of frags at these meetings. I like to post what I have before because folks can see what I'm bringing. I also give them the chance to reserve beforehand by paying. I don't want to cut up 10 frags of Tyree $500 efflo only to trade or sell 2 of them. I would rather know how many are sold, bring a couple extra based on what interest was shown and leave my mother colony in tact as much as possible. Also by prepaying, folks know that they have that rare coral reserved for them, it's not first come first pick. I bring only corals that I have grown out from frags and sell them for much less than you would pay online or at a fish store.
I agree with Jack. You shouldn't be left out if you're new and have nothing to trade. I was there once. Almost everything in my tank is from club members. So cash is good.
Also, you might not be able to find somebody who both has what you want and wants what you have.
Cash adds lubrication to the process. Just my capitalistic opinion.

+1 It's hard to believe that there are actually people here who would buy a healthy coral colony and then break it up just to make a profit at a club meeting. Perhaps a ruling that all frags sold and traded at the swap would have to have some grow out on the base of the plug or rock. I realize people would have to plan a little in advance but it would prevent the above and everyone would end up with fewer loses after swap or purchase.

Well im happy its in san antonio, guess ill be there this year.
But i also think having a "frag swap only" section would be good cause i would't want to be carrying around corals im not going to sell/trade.
I would think you would have to give people some time to prepare. I was thinking it would be more appropriate to do it at next years frag swap if the club liked the idea.

If we have so much rules and regulations apply here then we'll take the fun out of it. We all work hard for that money as a buyer or a seller. I like to have all options as a buyer or a trader. And as a reefer i also like to share and get %1 of my investment back...JMO
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...
I am getting a little bummed out by all this preparing for other people to do the wrong thing. I find I live a happier life if I approach people assuming the best -not the worst.
The large majority of folks will trade and sell frags in an ethical manner.
Those few that don't are not worth destroying the fun for others.
Couldn't we just give each other a little more credit? What matters are the large majority of reefers that participate to further the hobby, not the few that are in it to turn a quick profit.
