Default Adding sand to a tank...

Howdy! As many of you know I'm in the process of setting up a new tank. I now have the livestock out from the old tank and am planning to move some of thesand from the old tank over but was wondering the best method that is least stressful for the critters and fish!!

Cheers in advance for you thoughts!

Ps sorry if the spelling or words are a bit dodgy but I'm doing this from my phone for the first time.

you can add sand to an existing tank by pouring it into a pvc pipe that you have submerged down to the sand bed. the larger diameter the better. just cut the pipe so that when one end is at the top of the sandbed, the other end is slightly out of the water at the top of the tank. carefully pour the sand into the pipe as you move the submerged end where you want the sand to end up. if you are taking the sand from an existing tank i would suggest rinsing it well with some old tank water to get as much junk out of it as possible.

Ive never attempted it but, putting the sand in a trash bag, zip lock, etc and cutting an opening in the bottom. Should keep the mess to a minimum.

Thanks ace - I was wondering about something like that but with a funnel on the top.

look at the pvc fittings at the store. They have several different adapters that you can use as a funnel.
