Anybody using Fauna Marine?

I am so happy to have gorgonians and sponges but I want to make sure to keep them healthy.
I just read an article in Coral Magazine about somebody that has a tank dedicated to gorgs and carnation corals and they've been doing really well for him LONGTERM in part because he feeds them pretty much round the clock.

The food he uses is Fauna Marine. I've checked it out and it seems kind of complicated. The instructions were tough to understand for me so I actually dowloaded their catalog and am going to read it in German.

Has anybody used their products? Any feedback? The stuff isn't cheap either so feedback on how much you get out of it would be great as well.

I use the Fauna Marin balling salts. So far so good.

Got my package today from Canada with my Fauna Marin Filter Feeder, Sponge and Sea Fan foods.
I mixed up a little batch and put about 1/4 tsp in the tank and the nocturnal whip gorgonian seemed to sense it right away and opened its polyps. Can't really tell what it's eating but the response to my little Fauna Marin foodmix was instant so I am hoping the stuff is really as good as they say. It's certainly not cheap.

Karin....what's everyone eating these days? Can you recommend an easy approach to feeding sea fans and carnations?

Look I've been on MAAST for over a year!!! This thread is old.... lol

I used it for awhile, later I noticed problems with cyano and traded the Fauna Marin stuff I had. Then I read this awesome thread on RC about continuous feeding NPS (link here) and got some more Fauna Marin foods...lol

I guess the combination of pellets/Prodibio/tank simply maturing made it stable enough to not succumb to cyano because even though this time around I am dispensing even more dry foods I don't have the cyano problem.

I currently dispense the Fauna Marin Dry foods with a Fishmate and it's an awesome and affordable device in combination with a feed ring (see here).

My next project (for this weekend actually) will be to drill a small beverage cooler and set up a continuous feeding station for refrigerated liquid foods. It looks like this:


Wish me luck. I am nervous about damaging a refrigeration line and thus ruining the whole fridge...

Can't take any credit for it. None of it is mine.
It's all from the RC thread on NPS.
In fact after my frequent redesigns on the shadowbox the first thing my husband asked when I told him I brought home a little fridge and I intended to drill it was:" has anybody done this before?' and he was as relieved as I was when the answer was YES!
So much easier when all of the supplies have already been determined, the blue print of how to do it done and the last few things tweaked.

Unless you're drilling out the back of the unit, you shouldn't hit a freon line on the sides. I'd just try to minimize the vibrations by using steady pressure on the drill and slower rpm's on the bit. Looks like an awesome idea. Best of luck!
