I agree Karin -- I don't know what was hoped to be gained by making the call, but its still insulting to the store owner on many levels.. If it were a pure product inquiry, it wouldn't be QUITE as bad -- still a bit insulting, esp. if you then say "nah, I was just curious, I'm buying a used one".... but I see it as an attempt to shoehorn the Sponsor into the deal for leverage somehow. It just seems very wrong to me, on many levels -- our Sponsors all do a lot for the members of this site, and direct slaps at their livelihood (whether intentional or otherwise) should be frowned upon, in my opinion.

Nor should a member direct a potential sale from a LFS, at the LFS, to maast for a better price. Boorish behavior at best.

No, I typed mine before your edit, because after it posted I looked at it again, but your edit must have been already in the works! Funny. Now quit copying me!

Absolutely -- and I have no problem with people trying to save a buck. If you want to attempt to buy the item for less than the asking price -- just ask. The worst that can happen is you're told no. But the wrong person to ask, is someone who's completely unrelated to the transaction..

100% agreed on your point as well, Allan -- its just common respect for a big part of what makes our hobby what it is: the common, comfortable gathering ground of our local LFS sponsors.

I know nothing of the situation other than what I have read in this thread. With that said, Publicly calling someone out on their poor etiquette isn't really a lesser of two evils. It's ranting at best. If you feel like the person was disrespectful then it should be discussed in private between the involved parties.

Note: this is my opinion as a person and not as a moderator.

I agreed with you, but if it not out in the puplic discussion then someone will try this again.
