Yeah I cringed when I saw your pics.
Get your nitrates as low as possible by doing 50% water changes every other day. Then dose the mess out of that mag. But, only use Kent. Nothing else seems to work. Depending on your tank size it'll take a few gallons of the stuff to get your levels up.
After you see the stuff die off, maintain your mg level at the high level for at least a month. Make sure to watch your alk levels while your mg levels are high.

Okay, i just tested the Mag again and now its at 1200. Just a touch over 100ppm but i dont think its to bad, because i added it very slow to the tank. I guess now i have to wait a day to add more. Ill let ya know what happens.

heres the thing about trates, trites, and phos. I cant read them with my test kits. I do use good kits, and have see them before with very low readings. But they dont pick anything up right now. But that could be cuz the plants are eatting them. Dont know. Plus i run Zeo and have no clue how it plays in to the mix. I think i might add a cup of GFO to the reactor just for good messures.

wow, i just tested my alk and it droped from 8.3 to 6.6 after half a day just because i raised my Mag by 100ppm. Thats crazy. is this normal?..id understand some change but OMG...

Is your BRS Mg magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) or magnesium chloride? I used BRS Mg Chloride and epsom salt (Mg sulfate) to whip the bryopsis in my tank. That may be why some folks have good luck with Kent Tech-M - it has both Mg Chloride and Mg Sulfate but a higher concentration of the Chloride. HTH.

i mix them both when i make my mix. I have tried them alone and i dont like them as much as i do together.

Okay, here we go.
http://www.bryopsis.com/ ...Says you can up Mag 300ppm a day. I have done big mag raised in the past with no problems. but that was way back in the day when i didnt know what i was doing..lol..
quick summary for ya. I tested yesterday morning and my mag was at 1080. I took it up 1350 yesterday and will be doing 300ppm today. Ill let yall know what happens.
