Both environments might cause the ich problem, but who cares? After multiple ich outbreaks (pretty much every tank I've ever owned) I learned one thing. Take them out and QT them! Oh, and UV sterilizers are the bomb. Otherwise, you’re taking a chance of losing everyone. I will never take that chance again…….with one exception.
You have to know your fish. As you gain experience, you learn the way fish behave and know who the tough guys are that might live with or fight the parasite. I’ve had a couple fish for an extended time that made it through ich, but two were removed from the tank and one still lives with it. My Hippo always has a few spots on him, but presses on with life. Otherwise, I would never take the chance of losing my fish to ich.
Robb, I know you were just asking if sound or temp can cause ich, which seems highly possible….and I know that you have a lot more experience than me, but I just don’t want anyone to take this parasite lightly. It’s freaking deadly and has caused me a lot of money and grief. I hope they pull through and none of the other guys get infected.
