This is the way I moved all my tanks from the coast, and again recently here in town. 3/4 of the water in buckets, left remaining 1/4 in tank with sandbed submerged. Had aeration during the move from Port A, but not from SA to SA (shorter move). So, let's see,...that was 7 tanks the first move and 6 tanks the second move. No casualties either time. My tanks were substantially smaller than your 144 though, so, you might be removing more water. If that works, when re-adding your water, just try not to stir up the sandbed. Good luck,...don't envy your move........I have a bunch of 5 gal buckets with lids if you need them. I personally like to move my fish in the buckets as opposed to an ice chest (rounded edges), but would pile rock into an ice chest all day long...

Hey Erik -
Congrats on the move... exciting stuff! We have this awesome heavy duty tub that's 100g and it's great for putting rock in as a holding tub til you are ready to use it. Sound familiar?
Just chiming in to let you know we will get our acts in gear (stupid busy holidays!) and get your tub back to you by the 1st. Is that going to be soon enough?

PS: Could come up with a few buckets with lids for you to borrow and also if another 32g Brute with rollers would be helpful, we could probably let you use ours as well.
