It's not just the exterior damage but the lack of padded steering wheels, dash, plate glass, and no air bags that make old cars a death trap.

Yeah, I can picture this:
You get to choose which car to ride into that scenario. You telling me that 98 out of 100 don't take the MB keys? Right.
MB has a history of not relying on those crash tests, but instead, their own of many thousands of vehicles. Unlike BMW -where performance is #1 - safety has always been the highest priority for MB. They will continue to be in our stable.
Go over to European Car Parts on Eckert @ Bandera. Go look at the wrecked cars there. Then tell me you would rather ride a Malibu into that scenario over a MB. Or the Malibu over a Saab, BTW.

I'd go with the 59 Bel Air. Its most likely to be constructed out of steel and iron instead of aluminum alloys.
