All depends on the size you want to do... Closed loop configurations are fantastic, but IMO somewhat overkill for a tank less than ~120-130 gallons... Koralia and similar pumps are quite affordable, and create ample movement in the tank for these dimensions... The bigger you want to go though, the more likely a closed loop will make sense.
