It would take one heck of a maintenance crew to maintain a 4500 gallon saltwater tank in the middle of a shopping mall. Not to mention the liability of something so expensive. Cichlids are a dime a dozen. For one saltwater fish you could buy anywhere from 3-10 cichlids.

True, my main issue is that if they were going to to freshwater fish all along, then they should not have used a faux Coral background, they should have made it look like a giant tree trunk or something at least halfway realistic!

Very disappointing. It said tropical fish. Well the 375 gall tank upstairs is freshwater and the theme for the playground is sea creatures. Kind of weird. I got all excited for nothing I guess.

After doing some work at this mall during their remodel, I'm not surprised they skimped out on the big tank. I've never seen such a screwy remodel project in the 13 or so years I've been around retail construction. I agree it's retarded to have fake corals in a freshwater setup, might as well put a big air hose going all the way down the tank to a fake treasure chest at the bottom with some pink gravel! I'm kind of curious how they are going to clean the tank. It's open to a lot of sunlight and I would expect a lot of algae growing on all that fake coral. There's not enough room for a diver to get in there and clean it. And what happens when a fish dies and is on the bottom? Guess all the shoppers will get to enjoy that view while eating.

I forgot to mention the completely lame fake coral. It looks like 10 lbs of crap stuffed in a 5 lb bag.

I heard they had their first casualty today and lost over 100 fish.

Apparently it is true, I just saw a story on it on the news. They showed the tank drained, and then being refilled. Judging by the green garden hoses they had filling the tank, I'm assuming they are just using tap water. I get the feeling that this tanks' size will be trumped by its' failure. Hope I'm wrong!!

Is that seriously your comment? What does this have to do with CC? I swear, some people will find any way possible to bash CC. It's so pathetic and this is a real stretch. Gimme a break.
