Coralline algae overgrowing corals

What's the best way to get coralline algae off polyps?
I am going to have to find my urchin and see if he can help.
My poor green stars are getting smothered by coralline algae (and yes I am sure it's not cyano ;) )

I need to get some Purple Down. :(

The 10,000,000 asterena stars in my tank do a number on coraline algae. I don't think thats the answer though.

scrape it off? does it cling to polyps as well as it does to rock and gl*****

I am not an expert and do not know the specifics, but that is a good thing. I have the same polyps and they are fine with coralline algae. It is mostly light and flow that affects them in my opinion. Try moving it.

Leave the coralline there and let the star polyps figure it out.

Jim's probably spot on. I think the GSPs I have could live in a toilet. THey grow like crazy!
If you need another colony of them I have some neon green ones that you are welcome to.

All those thousands of wonderful asterina stars keep that horrible coralline very well under control, allowing my GSP's to grow very thick exactly where I want them to.

My GSP's grow the best directly in the current of my Koralia's. You can tell where the currents are by their growth. Huge thick mats.

You guys were right. Something else must have been ticking off my GSP yesterday evening. When they all hid away I inspected the rock and found the coralline and thought that was it but the stars came back out later that night.

Of course where they are overgrown they're not coming back. :( I have them in pretty good flow (intersection of two 1500 gph Seios) but I'll see if I kind find a higher flow area.
