    Default Tank Stand/Canopy Paint

We have decided to paint out stand/canopy/towers black. The dark wood and pink trim is not working for us any longer. We would like to possibly go light on the wood stain, but too much work would be involved to remove the dark stain.

Now I have done some research and found the the following:
    1. Prep - Lightly Sand entire area
    2. Use Kilz as primer for inside of tank stand
    3. Use Acrylic Paint on outside of Stand/Canopy. Go over with 1200 gpi sand paper between final coats of paint.
    4. Do not use Latex Paint. Can take up to 30 days to cure. Some latex paint stay tacky for a long time.

Does this sound like the correct plan? Also, we have a large area to paint, should we paint with a brush/roller or use spray paint?

    Thanks.

Knowing what I now know about paints. This is what I would use: Interlux Brightside:

It's an easy to apply, brutally tough paint, designed for the marine environment.

I like the idea of the black... it will look slick! (And now is definitely the time for any paint changes!) I think the contrasting red could have worked nicely... depending on the shade of red, lighting in the room, etc. but the lighting in your photos makes it look fuschia rather than burgundy, which is not the most neutral decor color to work with!

Out of all the painted cabinets, my favorite is espresso... brown so dark it almost looks black, but our stand is blonde to match our kitchen cabinets, so what can I say about it?
