Well, since I finally took the time to work with photobucket tonight, I am posting pics like crazy, so here is my other tank!

In early September, I purchased a 14gal BioCube with stand from a fellow MAAST member to setup a seahorse tank. It was meant to be a gift for my wife as she loves seahorses, but she just wants it to look pretty, doesnt really help out with care that much! Better for me!

I purchased two H. Fuscus seahorses from Seahorsesource.com, btw, Abby and Dan at SS are freakin awesome with excellent customer service and mentorship...I have probably talked to Abby 5-6 times since I got the seaponies and I plan on getting two more when they have more in January.

As for the tank, I have LR, LS, I put some LR with chaluerpa from the sump in my main tank in there, have a few snails and hermits, AND RECENTLY, I added two beautiful Dracula Gobies from Jason at Aquarium Designs! They are so cool looking and are really good tankmates for seahorses.

I purchased one of the Biocube skimmers from jason at AD, works really well for the low cost of $35, and I have LR rubble and filter pad in back. The temperture ranges in the tank from 74-78 degrees which is fine for these sea ponies...they are very happy and dance around all the time, and the water perimeters have always been spot on.

Those look like CB Kellogis, not dwarf seahorses. Just make sure their tank is three times their size fully extended. A great place to read about SH is seahorse.org

That's awesome that you are able to keep the temps down like that!
I've been so tempted to get a seahorse tank but I'm worried a small tank would get too hot in our place. :(

They are not dwarf seahorses, they are H. Fuscus. They are very healthy eating hikari mysis shrimp 2-3 times per day, and I have treated them to some live ghost shrimp on several occasions that we caught in the bay here in Corpus Christi.

I have read Seahorse.org just as well as about every other resource out there, spoken to experts at ORA, SeahorseSource, my personal expert here in Corpus-Brad Gimmell (a portion of his PhD is on seahorses), etc...

Scorpino, I appreciate the thoughts, but rest assured whenever I jump into something I go absolutely freaking nuts researching everything I can, reading at all hours, quizzing previous owners or breeders, these guys are in good hands and fat and happy! And I do understand the tank size vs. their full extension--if you look at the 5th or so picture you can see them up dancing, and the space in the tank, and H. Fuscus only get about 5" as adults and they eat frozen mysis unlike dwarf seahorses who only eat live foods, hence they are the species that I searched for to obtain for the tank. I searched everywhere coast to coast for H. Fuscus, ORA was out but they referrred me to several breeders who were all out, SeahorseSource was orginally out, but then they let these two go to me finally after much persistance by me (they were going to keep them as a mating pair).

All in all, I love them and they are some happy guys with their pair of Dracula Gobies!

In Sept and Oct I had a difficult time keeping the temp down, (FYI...we keep our A/c around 74 degrees throughout the day), but I played with the timer on the PC lights and I vented the top open about 4" to help heat escape...I currently turn the lights on at 1pm to 8pm, but they are next to the kitchen/breakfast area so they get good natural light throughout the day. I think venting the top was the biggest help as it dropped the tank more than 2 degrees.

Love it...got a 8 gallon BC cycled for like 6 months now with lots of macro and pods ready for dwarfs! Can't wait...it's my wife's tank.

I love to watch them hunt! That goby looks very cool. It's nice to see others fall head first into this hobby.
