coraline algae growing??

what would be the best way to boost coraline algae? im dossing with stromium and iodide and purple up. i have a little bit starting but i would like to completely cover my tank bottm in the purple stuff. any suggestions? i would really like to try to set up a ten gallon that i could grow the stuff in and just transfer rocks from my big tank back and forth. what kind of lighting should i put on the ten gallon for that purpose?

It needs calcium to keep growing. I've heard purple up works great but haven't used it. I've learned to hate this though as it is such a pain to clean off the glass with my magfloat. Also give it a couple months as it is a fairly slow grower.

That's what I was thinking: Time.
I even have coralline algae growing now in my 10 gallon quarantine tank and it doesn't have anything other than some algae and saltwater in it. It just has the regular fluorescent bulbs. Nothing fancy. I was suprised. Guess my slat mix has plenty of calcium...

if you want to see a boost, definitely start overdosing on Magnesium

The best advise i got when starting this hobby is "PATIENCE", thats what this hobby is all about, if you really cant wait just look for someone doin a tear down and buy theres, but i think the best part is watching your tank evolve and seeing everything mature. Just do regular water changes and it will happen

Same for my sump/fuge. It just has a regular light for the algae and it seems there is more coralline algae in there than my display.

The thing I've noticed is time, calcium, and good lighting is important. Lighting seems very important to me now for this reason: My 60 gal. had decent growth but once my bulbs got old and I slacked on calcium (was actually using purple up), purple slowly faded. However, my 150 gal. with LED's and the calcium I'm using now is doing great, but the old power compacts with the same calcium in my 60 gal. and during same time frame has hardly any coraline growth. Translation - with the same calcium and water treatment in the same time frame, without good lighting, coraline would not grow adequately for me.....results may vary.
