Thread: Clam Feeding?

  1. #1

    Default Clam Feeding?

What would happen if I put a clam in a container with aquarium water and freshly thawed brine shrimp? would it be as good as phyto feast? It's all I have right now.

No, clams are filter feedes, if a solid like brine shrimp were to enter the gill area it would most likely kill the clam, dont do it...

what do you think it would eat? The brine shrimp water? I am pretty sure the brine shrimp themselves would be too big.

I've been reading up on clam feeding lately and found this article:

Just thought I'd mention it since it seems that PhytoFeast might not be all that great for your clam anyway. At least not in comparison to Live Phyto like DTs.

I have a Crocea and a Derasa and they've always been happy and growing with just occasional feedings of phyto. I think they also filter out the cube water from feeding my fish, in addition to their natural photosynthesis. I think you should be okay until you get some more phyto!
