    Default Ick ??

I took in a Blue Hippo Tang this weekend from the LFS and I've noticed white raised specs on its body today. It does not seem to be breathing heavy or rubbing itself up against rocks and is just as hungry as the the Yellow Tang, Clown Fish and Diamond Back Gobie.

The pictures and reading I've seen on the web talks about white speaks on the fins, lack of eating and itching. Can anyone provide some advice if this could be Ick and what I should do for treatment? Cooper, fresh water dip ???

    Also, I don't have a quarantine tank.

    Thanks

If the fish is in a reef tank I do nothing. Fish only can use copper. Fresh water dip is scary, ph has to be the same as the tank or you will shock it. "need digital ph meter" The other problem if you wait until ich is so bad the stress alone will kill the fish. Check all of your parameters, if your tank water was way different from the LFS water that stress can bring on ich outbreak. The best advice I got over the years is to do nothing. Trying to fix things always seems to make things worse. Sailfert are some of the best test kits I used check water quality. I have 5 tangs in my tank and the only time I have gotten ich in the past or an outbreak was because water quality was bad and stressed the fish. I think marine ich is always in tanks and stress is what brings it on.
