Have the original owner sign a 'mistake of fact' form. Available from the tax assessor. With that form the original owner can sign the title over to you instead of whoever else is listed on the title.

Oh ok that sounds good. But what does that do me for the tax stuff? I know it's a felony, I imagine something like falsifying documents or something right? That's why I want it legitly, which is why I posted here. I have too much to lose; I am married now, with a step-daughter and my our 1st together on the way. Couldn't the original owner gift it to me? Wouldn't that help with the tax? Also, the registration is old. I have to pay since it's been out correct?

They told me to do a title dispute at the tax assessors office, but that sounds like alot of crap for nothing. No one so far is disputing anything. I think the problem I am going to have is finding this guy because he moved from the address listed on the title. Help there would be appreciated as well. The truck sat at this guy's shop for quite awhile. They tried off and on to get it to run for a few years and "couldn't get it timed right". Well, a truck that sat not running for a few years could count as a farm truck correct?
