    Default AlgeaX

I was looking on the web today to see about help in getting rid of my Dinoflaggelates problem. I'm still trying to find the source so it won't come back once I can help treat it. Anyone use this stuff in the past? I read they have taken it off the shelf at one point to revamp it. I'm still researching it and I'm not going to jump right in to it. Just looking for some pointers on how to rid my tank of the Dino. I'm not in a position right now to give any of my water parameters. I have been running a two little fishes phose reactor with Phosban in it for a while. TIA

Do not use chemicals as a solution to a biological problem. Vacuum / siphon the areas you can, and with patience the problem should resolve itself and run its course as just another cycle.

know what you mean peter i had a brown string like alage bateria etc bloom i fought with slime control and i redid my rock work and it seems to be benifiting the problem i am noticing less and less of the stuff, (fingers crossed). thing it was just a phase, that worked itself out.

That's what I'm doing for the most part and have been for a few weeks. I'm just looking into it for the just in case. I have never used any chemicals before and I'm try not to. I still need to find the root cause.

I think mine was flow, since i got rid of the "rock pile" and opened my tank up it seems to do better. I would try that, or add more pwr heads for dead spots, really helps

I changed everything up last weekend to try and help but so far no luck. I have a 9.5 return and two K3's in the tank. I feel I have a lot of open space. I also turned off my MH for 2 days and it helped. I turned them on for a day and it got worst. So right now they are off for the weekend. I do have some VHO sups running for 10 hours. My MH run for 6 when I have them on. I use my turkey baster to blow it off the rocks and the sand bed, then I do a water change and try to syphon as much as I can out. I'm trying to be proactive about it as much as I can.

About six months. I thought it could be that also but also thought those lights were to last up to a year no problem.
