    Default Gracilaria Questions

Is Gracilaria harmful in an environment without a tang to prune it down? Will it "go sexual" like I've read about some other algaes? Should it be only in the fuge, not the main tank?
The variety I'm considering is Gracilaria tikvahiae--I think. There's a good pic at The Algae Page. Sorry, no camera yet.
When I read about Gracilaria on reef sites, the variety isn't specified. When I search the scientific name, I get non-aquarium related results. I'm not even sure of the scientific name, it was the best pic I could find to compare.
The kind I'm looking at is reddish purple and branching. It has many small branches, like a bush, not a tree. It looks brittle, but feels a little spongy, like cheato. It's very pretty, imo... and it smells good.
