The hardware stores have 'chrome' eggcrate. The reflectiveness of the chrome might help the lighting as well as keep the fish in.
Besides that, everything looks better with chrome!

I am NOT going topless. I have the canopy on as well as the class top, reason why is my return kicks a lot of water and keeps my spray inside the tank, and not on the fixture. however i do have to pull and clean the top which is a down fall. i don't have heat problems since my sump is open and i have fans in my canopy displacing the heat.

Yeah they are. They love it. They divide like crazy. I have had them for about a year. The frag originally had five or so heads on it, then they spread.

Mine too. I love the little gold line that they have that outlines their fins.

My tank is also topless I wanted to do something similar to the crate but instead find someone who could make me out of acrylic with a square whole in the middle because i am in my tank all the time.

I have been topless on both my tanks with no worries of jumpers. Worst jumper I have is my jawfish, but he's settled in to his burrow so no more worries.

Just a word to all you Topless folks with CHILDREN. A Halide arc is just as bad (if not worse) than a welding arc.....kids will just stare into these things if given the opportunity and could do some serious dammage to thier little eyes....thats the only reason I have a canopy...or "tank heater" Ha.

I'm open, sort of. My TX5 fixture covers an 8" wide swath. Never lost a fish to jumping thankfully.

Here are some DIY screen cover links:

Won't stop kids from looking though.

I'm also open running a TX5 fixture with a GLO double behind it.
