Thread: whos top less now days ???

    Default whos top less now days ???

    i have no canopy on my tank and its open for the most part here's a pic .



    well I'm sick of losing fish due to them jumping I'm now debating to put a canopy on to try and keep them in ....

    so far i have lost

    yellow wrasse
    4 chromis
    3 fire fish
    yellow spotted mandarin
    one other wrasse but i forget the name of it ...


    any one have an idea of why they may be jumping ?? I'm tired of losing fish this way

    im doin topless...jus a MH fixture on top but topless....the only fish i recall losing was a rainfordi goby.....

    Fish scare other fish......so the fish jump. That's typically what I've seen.

    topless..you can do a mesh top but it looks ugly to me so I dont buy jumper fish

    to be honest i think its the Lyretail anthias scaring them he kind of plays it with them ....

    I don't have a top on my tank either. I fashioned a barrier out of florescent light covers to keep fish from jumping out. Other than that it is completely open.

    Not keeping a top on the tank has helped a lot with heat dissipation. One of the cons is that I have to top off the tank every other day.

    see to me thats blocking a lot of light ... something i dont want to do ... ehhh not sure what to do

    I have glass tops for my 75. It keeps my wrasses in, and I'm fortunate enough to not have heat issues. I do have a 30 gallon sump that is open, so alot of heat dissipates from this. And with the glass, I still get to keep the benefits of the halides. But I understand that many people can't do this, due to heat issues.

    Looks perfect to me! Skunk clowns are one of my favorites...
