    Default pond pumps

I've got a small pond.. Approx 300-400 gallon total (i don’t know exactly) its in two pieces a smaller upper portion that flows into a lower section....

I'm looking for a pump.... so my question is what kind/brand are people using? What’s reliable and which kinds to avoid?

Alot of people like Mag Drive pumps. I have been happy with my purchase...... They put off some heat though. You can always run them external, but I've heard you may get salt creep. Sorry I'm not better help.

I would go Mag-drive. The heat should not be an issue since it is a pond and you get fairly good evaporation cooling (if it's deep enough).

As to the size, it depends on how high and long the line will be from the pump to the upper portion. Also, do you want the water flowing from the upper like a trickle, stream or waterfall?
