I dont think it would make much of a difference. The clogging comes from the media as it melts.Its best to drip the effluent in a turbid area to avoid a ph drop from the co2. the lifter pump might be yourbest bet since you are sumpless and do not want to add another pump inside the display. I would recc getting the pre filter . I didnt use one but it might have helped
