Showpiece rock, Mushroom and bryopsis

so wut u gon do with the mushroom??

I'm going to cut it out with a razor tonight. I'm then going to put it in a wide jar on a smaller rock I have and put it in the fuge for a while to see if it will attach.

I am not going to argue, just did some cleaning and took a pretty big piece out to bake. I cut down alot of the hair algea, but the piece I took out was just too far gone I will keep an eye on the other pieces and probly end up rotating the curing process so that I keep a good amount of live rock and pods in the tank. Thanks for the advice.

Likelyhood? I'd say, 100%
Bryopsis is like a cancer in the reef tank. It will take over, only a matter of time. I'd follow Bill's instructions ASAP. JMO, not worth losing your tank over a piece of LR...

Man, not what I wanted to hear Bill, but thanks for the info! I guess it's time to say bye bye to that rock. Man I loved that thing, it's what made my little cave possible. I guess I'll have the two islands in there for a while. It's not often I found a rock that shape and size (13" long). I also just (last weekend) glued some frags on it. Guess i'll have to move them. Stupid Algae, die already daggumit.

recoiljpr...thas cool...u should have no problem with the shroom reattaching....uriah sorry to hear u lost some lr to hair algea...i have some in my tank im not gon lie...thot it was gon take over but my hermits sure have hit it hard...theyve been taking care of it for me...still grows here and there but nothing drastic...least not yet...knock on wood

Thanks! I have the Mrs. to thank for that. My first go it was just a pile of rocks. But she's the artistic type and saw the ability to do a cave. I just shut up, and lifted the rocks the way she directed me.

Well thanks Bill. I got home, cut out the shroom, took off the snails and nuked the rock. It's currently sitting outside in a bleach/water mixture. I swear it had gotten even worse in just 24 hours. That stuff is daggum evil.

I miss the cave, but in a few months, it will be back!
